Perfect Peace

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My Yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus

Jesus...just the mention of His Name quiets the clamoring dialog that races through our minds disturbing the rest that He desires for us to have in our hearts. Jesus...the mere thought of His pain provokes an attitude of gratitude that temporarily removes us from the selfish mindset of the world in which we live. Jesus...a man of no reputation. By many considered a fool. But, He loved the poor in spirit, had compassion upon the multitudes, and was humbly obedient even to the point of death on a cross. (Philippians 2:5-8) His death of shame was for our gain as it bought for us something that we could purchase no other place. Life, and not just life. Life "more abundantly." (John 10:10) Life, filled with peace, hope, joy, and love. Life that is overflowing, excessive, and extraordinary. Life more abundantly and everlasting

John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

As believers we find hope in that verse. We find comfort in the thought that we will not have to perish as a result of our sinfulness. We find comfort in knowing that the Father has forgiven us and has granted us life everlasting with Him. But, for those who don't know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, the idea of everlasting life may not be so pleasant. Every day is too long. Every minute passes to slowly as the clock of life ticks on. Why have everlasting life when every moment seems never ending as it is?

If that is how you feel at this moment, there is Someone you must meet. You may know about Him. Now it is time for you to KNOW Him. It is time to get off the rat race that we call "life" and find out about this more abundant life. Jesus fulfilled His mission here on earth and has returned to His rightful place at the right hand of the Father, but His promises live on.

He said, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27) He also said, "all that the Father gives Me will come to me and the one who comes to me will by no means be cast out." (John 6:37)

The Bible says, "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

Not just saved from eternal damnation. Not just saved from the wrath of God. You get saved from yourself. It's hard to believe but sometimes we are our own worst enemy. We get worked up about things we cannot change. We get wiped out by trying to compete for power, positions, and possessions. Only to realize that even when we have all those things...we have NOTHING without peace. Ephesians 2:14 says, "He Himself is our peace." Isaiah 9:6 calls Him our "Prince Of Peace." We need peace. It is not a luxury but a necessity. For only when we have His peace can we have rest.

Do you need rest today? Are you feeling tattered and torn, so weary and worn? If so, Jesus is inviting you to come to Him. Not a church, not a denomination, not a pastor, or any other person. Your rest can only be found when you come to Him. Hebrews 4:9 says "there remains therefore a rest for the people of God." He, Himself said His yoke is ea sy and His burden is light...all you have to do is come. He will give you rest. Let Him touch your life today. Let Him remove the yoke of society and put His yoke upon you.

You may be thinking, how can I do that? Well, He is only a prayer away. There is no formula. There are no fancy words of faith. All you have to do is tell Him that you need Him. Tell Him you need Him to be Lord and have complete control of your life. Tell Him that you need Him to be in charge because you cannot live a life of peace on your own. He is standing just waiting to hear the sound of your voice. That's what He lives for and that's what He died for. Come to Him today...and rest.
